Happy Autumn!

We went to Oktoberfest at our local Catholic church yesterday. This picture sums up the day’s activities. Lots of eating! Elliot had a hot dog and Travis had a pretzel. There were lots of games to play, Elliot made a wood project with his dad, and we went home with someone else’s balloon animal. Also Travis managed to take a nap in the stroller while the Bavarian band blasted polka music. It was a great day!

On Saturday we went to the Chicago Botanic Garden. There was a terrific train exhibit that we went to see. Afterward we walked around the garden. Elliot wanted to push Travis in his stroller. We saw a big ball of pumpkins. And then I saw a cutie pie sitting on his dad’s lap and had to snap a pic.

Travis is serious about bottle time.
This boy is almost as tall as the flag and pinwheel we have on our patio!
For someone who cries when I try to feed him vegetables, this one grabs foliage with gusto and shoves it in his mouth. I guess it’s fiber.
Elliot and I read Sheep In A Jeep and then made a craft. We made a sheep, a jeep, some mud, and a tree. Then Elliot acted out the book with the paper props. I think Elliot’s favorite part was using his scissors.

The Big Boy and the Little Brother

Here is a big boy.

He goes tinkle and poo-poo in a big potty. That’s what big boys do.
He likes to remind his brother of all the things that he, the big boy, can do that little babies, like his brother, cannot do.
But this morning I heard him singing songs while he waited for us to get him out of his crib. When I went into his room he was standing up in his crib so his brother could see him and he was singing to his brother every verse in Old MacDonald Had a Farm that he could think of. This big boy has a big heart for his little brother.
