Construction progress

Construction is underway! Here are some pictures.

This is what it looked like before construction began. We had a bathroom in the middle of our kicthen.

They had the bathroom removed the first day!

All open, but with pipes running through the middle of the room.

Now with pipes rerouted. Open Floorplan!

Or should I say “Open Floor” Plan?

Ceilings painted white

Recessed lights in the front

And kitchen lights

And some display lights.

Loft painted. They are working from the top of the house down.

Cabinets delivered!

Closed up all the holes. Pipes concealed. Apparently the HVAC was in bad shape, and it was repaired.

No more hole in the floor!

Stairway and upstairs halls painted.

Master painted.

Bathroom is finished.

They setup the island just to see what it will look like.

Kitchen ceiling all finished and painted. The kitchen will look something like this.

Master bedroom is finished. I setup my office furniture and computers. Unfortunately, this means I no longer have an excuse for not working on my book.

And while I was posting this blog, there was….an occurrence. I believe there was a miniature “running of the bulls” right here on School Street, and the bulls chased this hoard of about 20 “Spaniards” into Higgins’ Tavern. I wasn’t fast enough with my camera to capture it, but I did get this shot, and I’ll leave it to you to write an appropriate caption…. (“So these two bulls go into a bar….”)

New (real) hardwood floors in the kitchen.

Here’s a close-up of the seam. You can see one area where he sanded the varnish off of the old floor, and it matches pretty good, but not exactly. The installer said that when the old is sanded and then both are varnished, you will be able to see the seam if you are looking for it, but you wouldn’t notice it if it wasn’t pointed out to you.

Floor is finished. The seam is very subtle, and you don’t notice it unless you are looking for it.
