Hungry man

Look at this hungry man! He started rice cereal this week but still has a full bottle twice in the night. Hoping a tummy full of food will start keeping him asleep through the night soon!
This imagination master got in trouble at school for using his imagination. (He pretended that a building block was an airplane.) Really?!? Looking for a new school for next year! His response was “playing is freedom in not having to follow rules.” I guess there are too many rules at school. Couch fort, anyone?
Another Trav-ism is that he calls his knight toys his “days of old” toys.
On Sunday we went for pizza after church and Elliot said “okay, let’s get this over with.”

Here’s to our first world kid problems!

We are outside

The weather is finally warm enough to go outside so here we are! Yesterday we played at the beach park after school. Here’s Stuart having a toe snack in the shade.

Today Elliot didn’t have school so we are at Luther Burbank park. Here the kids are pausing for a snack while we discussed if it’s called a “battering ram” or a “battling ram.” I was in the minority so it is called a “battling ram” now.

Elliot has started reading choose your own adventure books.

Love brother time! Stuarts favorite toy on his exersaucer is a face.

Elliot’s doing lat pulls and Trav’s got push ups. Work it out, boys!

Elliot is 6!

Six years old seems so much older than five. These days Elliot is much more calm and thoughtful. It feels like he’s ramping up for something. He throws fewer fits and even though I give him screen time, he prefers to make a craft or assemble Legos. And he can put whole Lego sets together by himself! His reading is progressing, and his math skills are far beyond his peers. For example, yesterday he told Trav “I know some ways to make 15. Twelve plus three, nine plus six, and seventeen minus two!” He is a little more sensitive these days. He lets me hug him in public and tells me he loves me when he hops out of the car for school. Trav made a birthday card for him and he told Trav that he loved it at least three times before we got home.
Here they are today with Elliot’s birthday cookies.

Yesterday the boys made a volcano and kept making it erupt until we ran out of vinegar and baking soda.

These boys fight! And wrestle! And declare their undying hatred for one another. Then Trav comes up with this gem, “I don’t want to die. I guess Elliot and I have to die at the same time so we can be in heaven together. ”

Trav also says he wants to stay 4 years old forever because kids can do things that adults can’t do. Like run.

We had cake for dinner on his birthday!

Trav is 4!

Look who turns 4 today!

Here are the latest quotable Trav-isms:
A brother is a friend that lives in your house.

If you believe in yourself you can do anything. And that includes holding up a snake axe.

Splat!

What is the name of this cookie shape? If you said spring flower you are wrong. It’s a splat! This is according to Trav.

Of course all the cookies the boys made today look like splats.

Elliot took a Lego gondola making class. He had to build a gondola that would cruise along a string across the room. I took him to the class so he essentially had no help from me. He had fun and built a great one!
